Care

How to care for your adopted H.E.C. critter:

  • Please unwrap your critter very slowly and cautiously.  Your critter was first placed in a plastic baggie to protect their delicate features and to keep them from getting stuck in the polyfil nesting that fills their travel box. Their traveling box gets placed into a bigger box and filled with either packing peanuts, recycled paper materials or packing bubbles to cushion them for their journey. Besides potentially frightening them with a quick unwrapping, its best to take your time and coax them out gently. So please pull apart slowly and with great care.
  • Your little critter is happiest in its natural habitat which is on any sturdy surface such as a shelf, desk or table.
  • They love to be admired but be careful when handling them. They are quite durable but can break when handled roughly or dropped. If they are hurt, administer first aid with superglue. Give lots of extra TLC and assure your critter they are loved despite their ‘battle’ scars.
  • For both children and critter safety, these little creatures should be kept safely away from little ones who are less than 4ft tall. Although they do love children, critters are not toys.
  • In the event that your critter has been attacked by dust bunnies, wipe and dust lightly with a soft cloth. If the dust bunnies were especially rabid, use a slightly damp cloth sparingly to clean it. They don’t like baths!
  • Although your adopted cutie does enjoy to sun bathe occasionally, please keep them safe from potential sun damage by making sure they are not in direct sunlight for too long. There currently is not an SPF product on the market that is suitable for their delicate skin.
